Landmarks 2017

On the occasion of Canada’s 150th anniversary, Landmarks 2017 was a national project including undergraduate and graduate students from colleges and universities across Canada. The students were asked to respond to the history and meaning of this country, which was to be displayed in a site specific location. I used a CNC router to create the body of coin-operated binoculars, which played a stereoscopic stop motion animation of a contemporary parable depicting the treatment of sacred spaces. Along with this piece, I performed the story in John 9:1-12 in which a man’s sight is restored when mud is applied to his eyes by Jesus. These videos can be seen by scanning the QR codes.
